Thoughts on Giving

I love new things but some times I am just as happy with used things. Used things have experience with it. Example, would be antique piece of furniture. I wonder what if that piece of furniture could talk, what would it say. How it got that scratch and why does it have the dents or what caused the coloration of the top or sides of the furniture. I love to see things that are truly loved and cared for, because the person who had owned it really cared about it.

Another good example would be quilts. The worksmanship, the challenge of what colors to do the quilt in, the detail and the many hours of love that truly went into the piece of art. Yes, a quilt is a piece of art. To give this piece of art to someone and then watch them just throw it aside as one of those gifts , well I can't take that back to the store. This is really sad. The new owner doesn't realize the thoughts and prayers that went into that piece of art that was truly given with uconditional love.

Life does tend to make us jaded and not really care. I wonder if the new owner realizes the importance of the gift was meant for him or her.

The things I make and give are done are out of love. There have been times when I heard later that the person whom it was given to didn't like it or just made fun of the item.

Be greatful for what you have and be thankful because there are people in this world who have nothing at all. It is so sad that we as American have so much but we tend to not appreciate what we have. The materialism of our culture is really getting worse because once we achieve what we wanted. Then something comes along that is newer, better and faster. Good example would be the computer. So what , if the new computer gets a screen up 1/10 seconds faster that what you already have. BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!!!

I appreciate the things people give me no matter if they are old. They wanted me to have it and that makes me feel special. In today's time, we all need to feel special every once in a while. So if you are reading this blog, go out today and make it a special day for some one. You will be surprized how it will make you feel thinking of others instead of ourselves.
